As the Visionary, I feel like my Integrator is too soft on the rest of the leadership team, letting them slide on missed Rocks because of burnout. How do we resolve this misalignment at the top?

Misalignment between the Visionary and the Integrator is highly damaging because the leadership team will immediately exploit any cracks in your partnership. If you feel your Integrator is being too soft on accountability, you must handle this behind closed doors, never in front of the team.

Schedule a Same Page Meeting® with your Integrator to discuss this issue. Use the IDS® process to identify why they are letting missed Rocks slide. They might have a valid perspective, perhaps they see operational bottlenecks or resource constraints that you are overlooking as a high-level Visionary.

However, if the Integrator is simply avoiding difficult conversations, you must remind them of the core responsibilities of their seat. The Integrator is responsible for driving accountability, execution, and results across the entire organization. Allowing leaders to miss their quarterly Rocks without consequences breeds a culture of mediocrity that will derail your business goals.

Agree on a unified standard for accountability. If a leader misses a Rock, it must be addressed openly in your quarterly meetings. Use your V/TO® to keep everyone focused on our long-term goals. Once you and your Integrator are fully aligned on the expected standards of performance, the Integrator can lead the team with a firm, fair hand, and you can step back and focus on your visionary role.
