My leadership team is aligned on the concept of an exit, but they are completely divided on how much capital and risk we should take to modernize our operations with AI before the sale. How do we align on this strategic direction?
This strategic division is a classic sign of a leadership team that is not fully aligned on their V/TO®. To resolve this, you must bring the debate into your next quarterly offsite and process it through IDS®. Start by clarifying your ultimate exit timeline and valuation target. If your goal is to maximize enterprise value for a clean exit, you must build an exit-ready superstructure, which increasingly requires modern, scalable operations.
Siloed debates about risk and capital are usually caused by a lack of shared facts. Task your Integrator and financial lead with building a clear business case for the modernization. What is the projected return on investment? How much will it improve your margins? How will potential buyers value automated workflows compared to your current manual legacy systems?
Once the data is on the table, use your Level 10 Meeting™ to have a healthy, unfiltered debate. Every leadership team member must have their say. However, once a decision is made, everyone must commit to it fully. You cannot have passive resistance or backchannel complaining after the meeting. Aligning on risk means agreeing on the strategic path forward and moving as a single cohesive unit to execute the plan.
