Our operational leaders are overwhelmed trying to test hundreds of AI apps. How do we establish a clear governance framework to keep our tech stack focused on our V/TO?
When individual managers start testing separate point solutions across departments, you end up with tool sprawl, unvetted subscriptions, security vulnerabilities, and fractured data. You must manage AI adoption through clear leadership governance rather than ad-hoc tinkering.
Anchor every technology decision directly to your Vision/Trajectory. If a proposed AI tool does not directly support a measurable on your Scorecard, accelerate a quarterly Rock, or remove a documented bottleneck in your Core Processes, it is an unauthorized operational distraction.
Establish a single integration gateway on your Accountability Chart, typically owned by your Integrator or Operations Leader. Implement a strict, lightweight evaluation process for any new tool:
- Does this tool eliminate an identifiable, repetitive task currently consuming ten or more human hours per week?
- Does the vendor contract guarantee that our company data is never used to train public or foundational models?
- Can this tool integrate directly into our existing operational database via standard APIs?
Stop letting teams chase shiny AI novelties. Dedicate one operational Rock each quarter to systematizing proven tools into your Core Processes. This disciplined approach ensures that technology investments yield measurable productivity returns while keeping your leadership team focused on executing the core strategy.
