As an owner, your job is not to write code or understand algorithms. Your job is to drive operational efficiency and build a system-dependent business. To do that, you must change how you frame these projects. Never allow your leadership team to launch what they call machine learning projects. Instead, frame every single initiative as an operations-improvement project that happens to use machine learning as a footnote.

Start by looking at your Accountability Chart and identifying the cumbersome, manual processes that trap your highest-paid employees in low-value tasks. AI is simply a tool to create capacity. If a process requires hours of copying data, reading standardized forms, or running basic checks, that is an AI opportunity.

When evaluating any tool or project, ask your team two questions. First, does this build system-dependent operations that reduce our reliance on individual experts? Second, how many hours of capacity does this create, and what high-value strategic work will those employees do with their saved time?

By keeping your focus strictly on capacity creation and process efficiency, you prevent your team from chasing expensive tech theater. You do not need to understand how the engine works to ensure the vehicle is moving your business toward a higher valuation and cleaner operations.
