We are integrating advanced AI agents into our service delivery, and we are confused about whether the human supervisor and the AI software share the same seat. How do we structure this?

Software is a tool, not a person. You never put technology or software in a seat on your Accountability Chart. Only human beings can occupy seats because only human beings can be held accountable, and only human beings can GWC™ a seat. The correct way to structure this is to design a seat for the human supervisor who is accountable for the results of that department, including the performance of the AI tools.

The five key roles for this seat must explicitly include managing, monitoring, and optimizing the AI workflows. For example, if you have an AI agent handling customer scheduling, the human sitting in the Scheduling Manager seat is accountable for the output. If the AI glitches and books three clients at the same time, that human owner must own the fix.

Do not split the accountability between the human and the software. The human must get it, want it, and have the capacity to manage both the technology and any human team members. This keeps your lines of accountability razor sharp. When you go to sell your business, buyers will appreciate seeing a clean structure where humans leverage automation to drive high margins, without any confusion over who is responsible when things break.
