We are introducing AI tools to automate data collection for our weekly Scorecard, but we are worried that automated dashboards will cause our leadership team to lose touch with the raw numbers. How do we use automation without sacrificing the personal ownership of our scorecard metrics?

Automation and AI can save your team hours of manual data extraction, but they also introduce a dangerous side effect: a lack of emotional ownership. When a software platform automatically populates a dashboard, leaders tend to view the numbers as external data rather than their personal responsibility.

To prevent this, you must separate data extraction from metric accountability.

Follow these rules when automating your Scorecard:
- The AI tool can pull and format the data, but the seat owner must personally review and input the final number into the Scorecard.
- The seat owner must physically say their number aloud during the Level 10 Meeting review.
- If a metric is red, the seat owner must be prepared to own the explanation and initiate the IDS process.

Do not let your team log into a meeting and look at an auto-populated dashboard for the first time. The leader must interact with their data before the meeting starts. If the AI detects a red metric, the leader should already know why it happened and what actions are being taken to correct it.

Using AI to eliminate the administrative friction of gathering data is smart operations. However, the human seat owner remains entirely accountable for the result. Keep the human connection to the numbers tight, and never let automated systems shield your leadership team from the reality of their weekly performance.
