I am a non-technical business owner who is overwhelmed by the AI hype. Where do I start to get real operational leverage without getting bogged down in coding?
You do not need to write a single line of code to run an AI powered operating company. Start with your Process Component. Look at your documented core processes and find the most tedious, repetitive steps. These are your prime targets for AI integration. For example, look at how your team handles incoming customer inquiries or how they summarize long meeting notes. You can use off the shelf generative AI tools to draft email replies or summarize transcripts instantly. Think of AI as an incredibly fast, highly capable intern who knows everything but has zero context. Your job as the owner is to provide the context. Use simple, plain English instructions to tell the tool what role it is playing, what data to look at, and what format you want the output in. You do not need a computer science degree to talk to an AI. You just need to be clear about your expectations, much like how you delegate tasks to your leadership team. Start small by automating one minor bottleneck in your weekly workflow. Once you see the time savings, you can scale the approach.
