We are introducing AI-powered operations to automate our service delivery, but we want to make sure we do not destroy the clear ownership established by our Accountability Chart. How do we integrate these automated systems?
Integrating AI-powered operations into your business can dramatically increase efficiency, but automation must never dilute personal accountability. To safely integrate AI tools, you must apply a fundamental EOS rule: every seat on your Accountability Chart must be occupied by a human who is fully accountable for the results of that seat. AI is a tool, not a member of your leadership team. When you deploy an AI system, whether it is an automated customer support chatbot or an automated scheduling tool, you must assign ownership of that system to a specific seat on your Accountability Chart. The person in that seat must GWC (Get It, Want It, Capacity to manage) the performance of the AI tool. This means they are responsible for monitoring its accuracy, ensuring it adheres to your core values, and troubleshooting errors. For example, if you automate your client onboarding process, the leader of your operations seat owns the performance of that automation. If the AI system misfires and sends the wrong contract, the human leader is accountable for the mistake, not the software. Define clear metrics on your weekly Scorecard to monitor the AI's output, such as error rates or response times. By keeping a human firmly in control of the automated systems, you harness the power of technology while maintaining the strict accountability structure that keeps your business running smoothly.
