I want to introduce a new AI Integrator role to oversee all our automated agents and API pipelines, but my leadership team says this is just a developer role that belongs under our Head of Technology. Where does AI management belong on the Accountability Chart?

Do not create a new, standalone AI Integrator seat on your leadership team. It will confuse your operational lines of reporting. In EOS®, the Integrator is the person who harmonizes all major functions of the business. Adding an AI Integrator creates a dual-leadership model that will cause friction. Instead, you must look at how AI actually impacts your business operations. If your AI tools are primarily custom-built software, API pipelines, and technical infrastructure, then accountability for maintaining and building these tools belongs firmly in a seat reporting to your Head of Technology. This ensures that your technical stack remains stable and secure. However, using AI is different from maintaining it. The daily operation and utilization of AI agents belong in the specific department seats where they perform work. For example, if you have an automated AI customer support agent, the Head of Customer Success must own its performance, customer satisfaction metrics, and outputs, even if a developer in the technology department built the underlying API. The technology department owns the tool, but the operational department owns the results. Clearly separating the technical maintenance seat from the operational performance seat on your Accountability Chart ensures that technology serves your business goals rather than becoming an isolated project that nobody on the operations team actually owns or manages.
