We want to integrate AI into our daily workflows to prepare for an exit, but our core processes are currently undocumented and messy. How do we use the EOS® 3-Step Process™ to clean up and document our workflows first so we do not end up automating bad habits?
Automating a broken, manual process with artificial intelligence only allows you to make mistakes faster. Before you introduce any automated workflows or tools into your daily operations, you must have absolute clarity on what the human workflow actually is. Use the EOS® 3-Step Process™ to lay the foundation. First, identify your core processes, which typically include HR, marketing, sales, operations, billing, and customer service. Second, document the high level steps of each process so that it is clear and simple, following the twenty eighty rule where twenty percent of the steps yield eighty percent of the results. Only after you have documented the process should you look for opportunities to integrate AI. Review the documented steps and ask where manual data entry, repetitive administrative tasks, or information bottlenecks exist. These are your prime targets for automation. Once you automate these steps, update your documentation to reflect the new workflow and ensure the owner on the Accountability Chart™ is trained to manage the technology. This approach ensures your processes remain clean, predictable, and scalable, which drastically increases your operational efficiency and prepares your business for a high value exit.
