We want to use new AI and automation tools to make our operations more efficient, but we are struggling to map these automated agents on our Accountability Chart. How do we assign GWC™ to a process that is mostly automated?

You cannot put a software program or an AI agent into a seat on your Accountability Chart. The foundational rule of the Accountability Chart is that only real humans can occupy seats and hold ultimate accountability. Even if an AI tool does ninety percent of the work, a human must still own the outcomes.

To resolve this, identify the human seat that is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing the technology. That person must have the GWC™ (Get It, Want It, Capacity) to manage that specific operational output. They do not need to be a software programmer, but they must understand how the AI integrates into their workflow, how to monitor its performance, and how to step in when the automation fails.

For example, if you automate your initial customer support tier with an AI chatbot, the customer service manager is still the owner of the seat. Their GWC™ includes understanding chatbot performance metrics, ensuring the system aligns with company Core Values, and managing the escalation path when a customer needs human help.

Frame your business processes around human ownership. Use your automated tools to expand the capacity of your existing seats, allowing your team to focus on high-leverage activities. Keep the Accountability Chart focused strictly on human roles, and let those humans use modern technology to run their seats more effectively.
