We have automated our entire customer ticketing process using custom AI agents, and some of my team members want to list the AI as the owner of the Customer Support seat. Can a software tool or AI agent occupy a seat on our Accountability Chart?
No. A software tool, AI agent, or automated system can never occupy a seat on your Accountability Chart. One of the core rules of EOS is that every seat must be owned by a real human being who can be held accountable for its measurables and outcomes.
An AI agent cannot sit in a Level 10 Meeting, resolve an issue, or own a Rock.
If you have successfully automated your customer ticketing process, the structure of your Accountability Chart must reflect this shift. The customer support seat does not disappear, but the roles within it change.
Instead of a seat focused on answering tickets, you now need a seat focused on managing, auditing, and optimizing the AI tool. The roles for this seat might include monitoring AI response accuracy, training the system on new product updates, and handling complex customer escalations that the AI cannot resolve.
A human must own this seat. They are the ones accountable for the customer satisfaction metrics and the uptime of the automated tools.
By keeping a human in the seat, you ensure clear accountability and prevent your automated operations from drifting into poor customer experiences.
