AI tools do not occupy seats on your EOS Accountability Chart. Only humans can have accountability. If an AI system takes over major operational tasks, the human owner of that seat remains fully responsible for the outcomes.

You must ensure the person in that seat still passes the GWC test: they get it, want it, and have the capacity to do it. With AI in the mix, the capacity component changes. The person is no longer spending hours on manual data entry or repetitive reports; instead, their capacity is redirected to strategic oversight, quality control, and exception handling.

Update the roles and responsibilities for that seat to reflect this shift. For example, instead of a role like manually generating weekly reports, the role becomes reviewing and verifying AI-generated reporting for accuracy.

The human must understand how to manage the AI tool effectively. If they do not understand how to input data correctly or spot errors in the output, they no longer get it. Keep the lines of accountability razor sharp. AI is simply a tool that expands human capacity; it never replaces the fundamental human ownership of a seat.
