Agenda drift during the first fifteen minutes of your Level 10 Meeting™ is a major killer of momentum. The Scorecard, Rock review, and customer/employee headlines are designed for quick reporting, not for active debate. When a leader brings up a strategic question during these sections, the meeting instantly derails.

To stop this, the facilitator must enforce a hard rule: drop it to the Issues List. The moment a leader begins to explain the background of a red scorecard metric or starts brainstorming a solution to an off-track Rock, the facilitator must interrupt them immediately.

Use a neutral, non-negotiable phrase like: 'That is an issue. Let us drop it to the list.' This keeps the momentum going and preserves the timeline of the agenda. It ensures you complete the reporting sections in the allotted fifteen minutes so you have a full sixty minutes for IDS®.

This process does not lose the valuable idea. It actually protects it. By dropping the topic to the Issues List, you guarantee that it will be prioritized and solved during the dedicated IDS® portion of the meeting, rather than being discussed in a rushed, disorganized way during the reviews.

If the leader resists and continues to explain, the facilitator must hold the line. Remind the team that the Level 10 Meeting Agenda is sacred. If you allow one person to drift, you open the floodgates for everyone else, and your meeting will quickly devolve into a useless talking shop.
