We have a senior leader who is excellent at their job but consistently refuses to update their scorecard numbers before our Level 10 Meeting, forcing others to chase them. How do we address this systemic lack of data discipline using the GWC framework?
A senior leader who consistently fails to update their weekly scorecard metrics on time is undermining the accountability culture of your entire organization. To resolve this systemic issue, you must use the GWC framework to determine the root cause of the behavior.
First, evaluate if they Get it. Do they truly understand the operational value of the scorecard, or do they view it as a bureaucratic exercise? Explain how their missing data prevents the leadership team from making informed decisions.
Second, assess if they Want it. Are they willing to take responsibility for this aspect of their role, or do they believe their past performance exempts them from data discipline?
Third, look at their Capacity. Do they have the actual time and tools required to gather and input the numbers, or is their operational seat overloaded?
If the leader has GWC for their role but continues to skip updates, you must treat this as a core value violation. Set a clear expectation that entering data on time is non-negotiable for their seat on the Accountability Chart.
