Our customers are starting to expect instant turnaround times and real-time project updates because they know AI tools are out there. How do we adapt our customer experience strategy on our V/TO® without burning out our leadership team or stretching our operations to a breaking point?
Customers do not care about your internal processes; they care about speed, accuracy, and convenience. When they realize AI can generate reports or process data in seconds, their tolerance for a five-day turnaround evaporates. To address this on your V/TO®, you must redefine your core client experience targets without overwhelming your people.
Start by identifying which client touchpoints are dragging. Use AI to automate the information gathering and initial draft stages, but maintain a high-touch human step for final delivery. Your goal is to be an indispensable complement to cheap technology, as economists Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee suggest. The technology handles the rapid generation; your team handles the high-impact translation and strategic application.
During your next quarterly planning session, update your Three Uniques on the V/TO®. Do not list speed alone, because speed is becoming commoditized. Instead, focus on how your speed combined with expert human interpretation creates a superior outcome.
Next, assign clear metrics to this on your Scorecard. If your customer turnaround time expectation drops from forty-eight hours to four hours, your Accountability Chart must reflect who owns this metric. Give your client-facing seats the AI tools they need to meet this expectation, but hold them accountable to the outcome, not just the hours they work. This keeps your operational delivery fast enough to satisfy shifting customer demands while maintaining high margins.
