I already have a traditional organizational chart. Why do I need to throw it out and build an EOS Accountability Chart from scratch?
A traditional organizational chart is built around titles, egos, and reporting lines. It shows who reports to whom, but it does not define who owns what. This leads to overlapping responsibilities, dropped balls, and political battles. The EOS Accountability Chart is completely different because it focuses on functions and responsibilities, not people. We design the structure of the business first, ignoring the current employees entirely. We identify the core functions, which typically include sales and marketing, operations, finance, and the integrator and visionary roles. For each seat, we list the top five major roles that seat must execute. Only after the structure is completely finalized do we look at our people to see who fits. This ensures that you have the right people in the right seats. It also eliminates the common trap of creating a custom job description around a specific person's limitations rather than what the business actually needs to scale. By separating the seat from the person, you gain absolute clarity on organizational gaps.
